Aromatherapy and Fibromyalgia

Did you know...“Some people find pain relieving drugs, complementary therapies and exercise help improve their quality of life with fibromyalgia.”

Aromatherapy can help fibromyalgia sufferers in a few different ways, from mood lifting, to pain relief to help with sleeping.

Not only can the different aromas from the oils help lift your mood but if it is combined with massage it can relax and encourage flexibility of the joints and muscles and increase the circulation around the body.

Oils can either be massaged into the body by a professional aromatherapist like myself who will know the exact oils to use and the type of massage to give. Or you can buy a blend yourself and massage into your body as often as you need it. You can also diffuse oils, use them in body oils or creams or in a bath to ease symptoms.

Some oils I would recommend to help are:

For pain relief: lavender, marjoram, petitgrain, chamomile, clary sage, peppermint, ginger and black pepper.

For stress/anxiety relief: rose, frankincense, clary sage, orange, bergamot, grapefruit, ylang ylang, sandalwood, neroli, lavender, geranium, jasmine.

For peaceful sleep: lavender, neroli, jasmine, chamomile.

For a feeling of harmony and safety: frankincense, lavender, rose, neroli,

For headaches: lavender, peppermint, marjoram, chamomile.

For increased circulation: rosemary, ginger, black pepper, peppermint, lemongrass, rose geranium.
